Pinterest Craft/Fall Break

FINALLY! Fall break! I'm off of school through Tuesday which means that I can finally take a break! Much needed with the balancing act of a 21 hour semester and my wonderful RA job. My first day of break and I've already done a craft! Here's my insta pic of it:

Cute, right?! I'm going to make another one, but with much better quality. Comment and let me know if y'all would like a tutorial on how I did this! (inspiration taken from For Chic Sake)

My goals for this break are to do some crafts (all of which I will be instagramming), do more food photography, run everyday (which is what I'm about to do after I post this), blog more, and relax. Two seriously stressful weeks and a lot of junk food later, I'm ready to take a break from my responsibilities and focus on my blog! I miss posting on here and reading other blogs and all the love and support from y'all!

That being said, I'm going to go for a short run, catch up on Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team 7, and get pumped up for watching my Horned Frogs play against Iowa tomorrow! GO TCU! Riff Ram Bah Zoo! :)

Antler Jewelry Holder

First DIY project for my blog! (woohoo!)

A while back, I saw this tutorial and thought that it was such a neat way of using antlers and giving them a girly touch. Plus, they're multipurpose! Beautiful piece of wall art meets jewelry holder. Can't go wrong with that. I'm going to put them up when I move back into my room at TCU at the beginning of next month. :) Here's are the steps for how I did it my way:

Materials:
  • Antlers
  • Fake Flowers
  • Felt
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Optional: Clear glue
Step 1) Find some real or faux antlers. I lucked out because my friend, Chelsea, found some at her grandmother's house for me to use! Success! I had four to choose from.

Step 2) Pick out the antlers you want to use and give those babies a good washin'. I took them out to the garage and used Dawn dish soap and a bristle brush to clean them. Afterwards, I just let them dry out in the sun.

Step 4) Go fake flower hunting! Pick out ones that match your colors/decor and make sure they make sense with the size of your antlers. My room at TCU is mostly pink and turquoise, so I wanted to stick with some nice, light colors to match. I got mine from Walmart for $5 and I probably have enough flowers left over to make another one! I bet some bright colored flowers would look great with this as well!

Step 5) Cut the stems off the flowers and hot glue a small piece of felt to the back. It would be best to use a color that wouldn't stand out too much incase it peeks through.

Step 6) Arrange the flowers on the antlers so you like them, throw down some hot glue, and stick those suckers on! Now, all you have to do is put some necklaces on your antlers and hang them up! (thanks to my mom for holding the left side up of the antlers against the wall while I took pictures with necklaces hanging on it! I'll actually hang it up when I move back on campus in 2 weeks. ;))
Tip: Necklaces can slide around a lot if the antlers slope down at a steep angle. I recommend putting a little dot of clear elmer's glue or hot glue every inch or so so that your necklaces stay put and don't clump together.

If you end up doing this project, link me to it! I'd love to see how you take these steps and make it your own! :) PIN THIS if you'd like!

DIY sneak peek

Tomorrow, I'll be cleaning up these sweet finds and turning at least two of them into DIY projects. One of them will be featured on here later this week, and the other one will go up later this month! Stay tuned to see what I do with antlers!
