Engagement Pinspiration
Someone recently asked me about doing their engagement photos! Eep! I love anything lovey-dovey (perhaps it's because my name means love? I love happy mushy lovey stuff!) and I've been poking around on Pinterest for some inspiration! If you want to pin any of them, just click the picture to take you to the pin! Here are some of my favorite engagment photos!

Antler Jewelry Holder

First DIY project for my blog! (woohoo!)
A while back, I saw this tutorial and thought that it was such a neat way of using antlers and giving them a girly touch. Plus, they're multipurpose! Beautiful piece of wall art meets jewelry holder. Can't go wrong with that. I'm going to put them up when I move back into my room at TCU at the beginning of next month. :) Here's are the steps for how I did it my way:
Materials:
- Antlers
- Fake Flowers
- Felt
- Hot Glue Gun
- Optional: Clear glue
Step 1) Find some real or faux antlers. I lucked out because
my friend, Chelsea, found some at her grandmother's house for me to use!
Success! I had four to choose from.
Step 4) Go fake flower hunting! Pick out ones that match your colors/decor and make sure they make sense with the size of your antlers. My room at TCU is mostly pink and turquoise, so I wanted to stick with some nice, light colors to match. I got mine from Walmart for $5 and I probably have enough flowers left over to make another one! I bet some bright colored flowers would look great with this as well!
Step 6) Arrange the flowers on the antlers so you like them, throw down some hot glue, and stick those suckers on! Now, all you have to do is put some necklaces on your antlers and hang them up! (thanks to my mom for holding the left side up of the antlers against the wall while I took pictures with necklaces hanging on it! I'll actually hang it up when I move back on campus in 2 weeks. ;))
Tip: Necklaces can slide around a lot if the antlers slope
down at a steep angle. I recommend putting a little dot of clear elmer's glue
or hot glue every inch or so so that your necklaces stay put and don't
clump together.
If you end up doing this project, link me to it! I'd love to see how you take these steps and make it your own! :) PIN THIS if you'd like!
Currently
I saw this fun post here and here and decided
that I would post it as well! I'm also doing it because there are men working
in our house right now and I'm trapped in the kitchen with my laptop and peanut butter fudge. All my editing work is done on the computer in my room, and
they're working in there, too, so no editing today. But that's okay! This "currently" post
kind of gives me a chance to stop and reflect on what's going on in my life
right now. If you do the same, leave me a comment and link me to it! I love reading
through these and would love to read yours!
Watching: Lately, my TV guilty pleasures have been Take Me Out and The Choice on FOX. I know, I should
probably be watching something more educational or at least something less
cheesy, but I can't help it! I make sure to finish my Thursday run by 7pm so
that I get home in time to watch both of these. I also never miss an episode of Food Network Star this season! Vampire Diaries is a series I want to start watching and I heard that you can watch it on Netflix, so I might just have to start watching it! Speaking of vampires, I've been watching the
Twilight movies over the last week. I'm not a huge Twilight fan or anything,
but I've had the hots for Taylor Lautner lately, so that's 75% of my reason for
watching them. I'm going to pick up Breaking Dawn and
Abduction today to finish out my TLaut week. ;)
Thinking about: My photography business and where I
want to go from here. Lately, I have discovered this passion for food
photography, and I would love to do more of it. Also, I just did my first ever
baby session the other day. That might be something else worth exploring
because I surprisingly had a really good time! I was super nervous going into
it because I have zero experience with babies, but it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. There are just so many possibilities with photography! What do I want to focus on? Who knows?!?
Listening to: I've been listening to a little bit of
everything right now. Now, don't judge me... If you look through my recently
played songs, you might think I'm a teeny-bopper. Chris Brown's new Fortune cd has been playing a lot since it came out. Also, I've
recently stumbled across... uh.... Joe Jonas's solo album, Fastlife.
Seriously, though, there are a couple really good songs on there (All This Time
and Kleptomaniac are my faves). And I can never go too long without listening to my favorite singer, Joe Brooks. I know basically all his songs by heart.
Eating: Way too many sweets at the moment... (read this
post to see why) I've been working really hard to eat well and work out
somewhat regularly this summer because I had one or two (or 948359...) too many
pizza slices while living on campus this last year, haha. It has really paid
off, but I'm working on figuring out how to maintain that during the year when
I move back in 2 weeks from now. My favorite healthy things have been fresh veggies from our garden, fruit smoothies, and eggs with black beans!
Wishing: For some new camera lenses! That, and a new wardrobe! I've come to realize that when I have to dress "cute" to go somewhere, I panic because 95% of my tops are t-shirts. Part of that is not my fault! TCU gives out free t-shirts all the time! If there are two things I love in this world, it's "free" anything and t-shirts. I promised myself that I would go shopping sometime before moving back in so that I don't look like a total hobo 24/7.
Feeling: I feel like this summer went by a lot faster
than I was expecting. June went by really slowly and felt like it was two
months long. Somehow, half of July went by in the blink of an eye. My summer
basically ends in 2 weeks when I move back in and summer RA training starts,
residents start moving back in, and then school starts on August 20th. I'm not
ready for summer to be over! I just want to spend my days photographing and
blogging and spending time with my best friend and family. I'll be working on
my photography during school, of course, since I'm majoring in it, but it's not
the same when you get to just take pictures of whatever tickles your fancy for
fun right now. On the plus side, I'll be started my independent study which should actually
be pretty sweet!
DIY sneak peek
Tomorrow, I'll be cleaning up these sweet finds and turning at least two of them into DIY projects. One of them will be featured on here later this week, and the other one will go up later this month! Stay tuned to see what I do with antlers!

Chocolate chip cookies
Bake ALL the cookies!

| (how 'bout that boss meme drawing I did!) |
And that's exactly what we spent the entire day doing.
My best friend, Chelsea, and I were taking pictures when we decided that some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies sounded like the PERFECT snack. Well, we now have enough snacks for the next two weeks... We ended up baking five dozen cookies by accident (yay for reading the recipe wrong!) and now have more cookies than we know what to do with! It's okay, though, because these cookies are wonderful and soft and the perfect sweet treat! I'm sure my parents won't mind me bringing these babies home. ;)
And, of course, a special thanks goes out to our kitty helper, Kira. :)
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to run off some of these cookie calories!

Samosa Hut
Yesterday, I went and had lunch at this rockin' place in Irving, TX called the Samosa Hut. This wasn't my first trip and it definitely won't be my last! We got a variety of samosas as well as the Tikka Masala and the Korma, both with veggies instead of meat. Oh. My. Goodness. As an Indian, I'm used to spicy foods and exotic flavors. They really turned it up with these dishes! The Tikka Masala was full of different spices, cloves being the most prominent, and the heat definitely had a strong presence in the dish! Super spicy! The Korma was creamy and perfect for dipping naan into! You just can't go wrong at this restaurant with their delicious samosas and fabulous dishes. If you ever find yourself in Irving, I definitely suggest that you stop by for a bite to eat at this fab place. :)

Happy Monday, y'all!
inspired.
I read these a little while ago and they really inspired me. I love coming across things that remind me of why I do the things I do and why I dream big. Never give up hope, believe in yourself, and be the best you can be.
A little vintage
After getting up at the ungodly hour of 9:45am (let's not forget that it's summer vacation and I'm used to sleeping in until 11:30am!), I got ready and headed over to my best friend Chelsea's house. We then went on over to her grandmother's house to rummage through all the stuff they have stored away over there! It was a lot of fun! I wanted to check out things to possibly use as props for photoshoots and I definitely found some super neat stuff. Here's a little peek into some of my fun vintage finds:
